New Author

With the Pop-Up's new permanent display at Bleak House in Broadstairs we are excited to introduce some new Authors and books.

The first of these is L A Perdoni, with his fantasy book Hexagons of Hope.

The prequel to Hexagons of Hope the Kewriosity of Dragons was written in 2018 and was published privately. The story was in embryo for several years before that after a visit to Kew Gardens and the pagoda which was originally decorated with dragon sculptures. They mysteriously disappeared and no trace of them remains, The story offered an explanation of several curious occurrences in relation to the structures that were erected to decorate the gardens. When facts fail us, fantasy can sometimes come to the rescue.

The plot :  In a different world, an unscrupulous sorcerer is plotting to destabilise peace and prevent the princess Anzu from her rightful place on the now vacant throne of the Paradise Islands.

Little does William Chambers, the architect of so many of the structures in Kew gardens, realise the contributions  that his dragons will make to events in this distant time and place.

It was after the publication of the book that Kew embarked on the restoration of dragons to the pagoda. They are rather more extravagant than Chambers' original designs !.

The book was written on train journeys between London and Broadstairs as the journey time and movement of the train are conducive to creative writing. The sequel was written in 2023.

The plot of Hexagons of Hope: Returning to the Paradise Islands setting of the first book and reintroduces us to the main characters of Anzu and her now husband, Zakuro., as well as to a new but somehow familiar villain,

The spiral  pathway will take our protagonists into different realms and eras as they struggle to combat the evil that threatens to destroy their marriage as well as the environment that they cherish. They seek and find new allies in their quests but there's no guarantee that their efforts will succeed. Their enemy is formidable.
